Bonchari MP Pavel Oimeke Protests As ODM Gives a Direct Ticket to US-Based Kenyan

Bonchari MP Pavel Oimeke is up in arms after the ODM party denied him a ticket to defend his seat in the upcoming elections.

The Raila Odinga-led party issued a direct ticket to US-based Kenyan Jonah Ondieki to vie for the Bonchari parliamentary seat, leaving out the incumbent.

Oimeke, the former Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) director-general, has been in office for only one year after he was elected in a by-election following the death of former Bonchari MP Oroo Oyoika.

Through social media, Oimeke termed the ODM’s decision to give a direct ticket to Ondieki as unfair and undemocratic.

“It’s a sad day for people of Bonchari and the Gusii at large, today we have witnessed democracy at trial again as the ODM party denied me, the people’s choice the ODM ticket to defend my seat,” Oimeke lamented.

He stated that the people of Bonchari will not allow leaders to be imposed on them, saying he will announce his next move to his supporters.

ODM also issued a direct ticket to Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati to run for the Kisii gubernatorial seat, Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka for the senate seat and incumbent Janet Ongera for the woman representative seat
