Two Kenyan educational institutions have earned global acclaim by securing spots on the shortlist for the World's Best School Prizes 2024.
Organized by T4 Education, in collaboration with renowned organizations like Accenture, American Express, and the Lemann Foundation, these awards recognize schools that are transforming lives within their classrooms and beyond. Nova Pioneer Tatu City has been named among the Top 10 contenders for the World's Best School Prize in the Innovation category. This exceptional institution stands out for its devotion to equipping students with essential leadership skills and fostering a culture of innovation. By nurturing creativity and forward-thinking mindsets, Nova Pioneer Tatu City aims to shape future leaders who will thrive in a rapidly evolving world.
In the Community Collaboration category, the Kakenya Center for Excellence, a government-funded primary boarding school for girls near Kilgoris in the Rift Valley, has earned well-deserved recognition. This institution has made significant strides in empowering young women through comprehensive education, health initiatives, and leadership development programs. Notably, the school has actively challenged harmful cultural practices such as female genital mutilation in a bid to advocate for positive change and break down societal norms that impede the progress of young girls. Established in 2022, the World's Best School Prizes provide a global platform for educational institutions to showcase their best practices, inspire others, and contribute to the collective goal of improving education worldwide.
The judging process involves a panel of experts who meticulously evaluate each school's impact, innovation, and community collaboration efforts. As part of the awards, all 50 shortlisted schools across the five prize categories will participate in a public vote on the T4 Education website. The school that garners the highest number of public votes will be honoured with the esteemed Community Choice Award. Furthermore, the winning schools will gain membership to T4 Education's Best School to Work program which supports teacher well-being and addresses the critical issues of recruitment and retention within the education sector.
