Babu Owino's Message to President Uhuru Following His Release

Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili popularly known as Babu Owino has dared President Uhuru Kenyatta to contest against him in his constituency instead of going for the presidency.

Speaking at the Kamukunji grounds in Kibera moments after he was freed on bail on Thursday, Babu expressed confidence that he would beat Uhuru convincingly if they went head to head in the Embakasi East Constituency MP race.

"Kama Umeshindwa na siasa na rika yako, kuja Embakasi East nikunyoroshe asubuhi na mapema, (If you are unable to battle it out with your political agemates you can come to Embakasi East where I will beat you very easily)" he pointed out.

The first time spoke during a rally at Kamkunji Grounds in Kibra Contituency, where he addressed hundreds of supporters, who gathered outside Kibera in solidarity with him.

Babu was accompanied by Siaya Senator James Orengo among other leaders from the National Super Alliance (NASA).

On his part, Orengo called on former United States Secretary of State John Kerry and former South African President Thabo Mbeki to return to the country and witness how they had failed in their mandate in the August 8th General Election. The two led a team of election observers from US carter centre and African Union respectively.

Before his release, Owino told the court that he was tortured, harassed and intimidated at Pangani Police Station. He claimed police officers sent street children to harass and intimidate him.

Curiously Kibra is the only place opposition can get ready crowd and audiences. Babu, this is not the way to inherit RAO's political clout. Infact if you read some history, most of the vocal and militant fellas of 1970s, 80s like the 'seven bearded sisters' are no where in the political limelight today.

This kid has a long way to mature. I cannot believe that old people voted for him.Why is he challenging Uhuru for MP in Embakasi East. This is not a game. Uhuru is running for presidency. Why didn't you throw your name in the hat and see if you could defeat him?
