US Says its Committed to National Dialogue in Kenya

The United States has reiterated its call for national dialogue in Kenya as a means of uniting the country and addressing issues arising from the disputed 2017 presidential election.

In a statement through its embassy in Kenya, US said it is committed to ensuring an open and transparent conversation aimed at uniting Kenyans and solving long standing issues arising from the disputed polls.

"US is committed to an immediate, sustained, open, and transparent National Conversation involving all Kenyans to build national unity, address long-standing issues, & resolve the divisions that the electoral process exacerbated," US embassy in Kenya said in a tweet on Monday.

The embassy further said that ambassador Robert Godec has been discussing with Parliament leadership on ways of strengthening relations between Kenya and US.

"Ambassador Godec is meeting with all National Assembly & Senate leaders, as part of regular diplomatic engagement, to discuss legislative priorities & ways to strengthen the US-Kenya Partnership," it said.

Last week, Godec held talks with Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka and Leader of Majority in the senate, Kipchumba Murkomen. The diplomat also met Senate and National Assembly Minority leaders Moses Wetang'ula and John Mbadi on Monday.

Last week, Godec called for dialogue between president Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga, saying talks are essential if the country is to realise progress.

“Dialogue is very important for the progress of the country; the leaders need to come together for the sake of the future of this country,” he said.

Let Dialogue begin between Clinton and Trump. When that is done transparently, we can then discuss Dialogue in Kenya. Elections are over, and only dialogue is about development agenda.

Mr. Godec, Kenya is not a colony. We have able leaders who can read and understand our constitution. The constitution does not provide any dialogue for a loser. You are a guest and therefore you should not use your divide and rule strategy by going one by one in parliament. The dialogue that you are looking for is "nusu mkate". Are you an ambassador or a lobbyist? Meeting one by one of our parliamentarians, are you buying them or promising them something? That is tantamount to corruption. The ambassador should go back home or leave Kenya alone.

Huyu fala kabisa.
What exactly is "National dialog"?? Nothing except for fodder for the main stream media soundbytes and dumb people.
Dont waste our time. If you have nothing to say just shut up and go focus on your next assignment. Career diplomats kill me with the BS they say.

Mr. Godec,I take you back to year 2000, Bush/Al Gore presidential elections. In that disputed elections, the US supreme court ultimately ruled in favor of Bush. That decision was final and no dialogue ever took place between Al Gore and Bush or the Democrats and the Repulicans. Why is it that our Supreme court's decision of October 26th elections is not good enough for you? Keep off the domestic affairs of our country, you are just a guest who represents no one in Kenya.

Even the US is having national dialogue about grabbing women...etc but not about Hillary getting into government. Kenyans need to stick to the constitution. We cannot change it after every election because of one perennial sore loser.

Mr. Godec do you give nusu boflo to losers in usa. Why double standard? Does Hillary Clinton wants to be sworn-in in one of the hoods in usa in order to be given half boflo?

What dialogue, I do not see DJT and HC having talks . The dems and Rethugs meet at the Legislative and square it away just as Kenya MCAs do , give me a breal . Go incite Iranians - your next frontier!

Why do you keep bringing up dialogue when everyone else has moved on? What is it you want from Kenya that you are not getting from Uhuru. Now you want RAO in so he can sell the country to you for 2 cents.
