NASA Leaders Hold First Rally After Raila 'Swearing-in', Vow to Resist Jubilee's Intimidation

National Super Alliance (Nasa) has held its first public rally since the swearing-in of its leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday.

Speaking during the rally held at Baba Dogo, Nairobi on Sunday, opposition leaders hit out at Jubilee administration over the harassment and arbitrary arrest of Nasa leaders following the controversial inauguration held at Uhuru Park grounds.

Led by Siaya Senator James Orengo, Minority Leader John Mbadi, MPs TJ Kajwang (Ruaraka) George Aladwa (Makadara), Babu Owino (Embakasi East), Antony Oluoch (Mathare), Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris among others, the leaders vowed to continue with their push for electoral justice despite the intimidation by government.

"Some of us we have gone through hell under Kenyatta, Moi and Kibaki regime. What Uhuru is currently trying is nothing but a shadow," Siaya senator Orengo said.

He added: "This is the time to bring change and any leader who acts out of fear ... their days are gone. We must push for a true democratic society and put an end to dictatorship and authoritarianism."

However, Nasa co-principals Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang'ula were not present at the event.

The leaders vowed to match to Central Police Station in Nairobi on Tuesday to record statements on the Odinga ‘swearing in’ which the government said it is probing.

Elections are over. Why cann't your fellows in NASA put your energies in the next election? That's the democratic way-Mr Orengo. You will not uproot Jubilee, the current regime.
All you guys are doing is causing unrest, and hurting innocent Kenyans.
Five years is not far.Your main gripe is that electorial process in Kenya is defunct(IEBC).How will holding rallies and agitation the masses help fix it.Elucidate your plans for fixing this system you say is broken, and let Kenyans decide for themselves. For if its not fixed, then it does not matter who is the president, and there will always be questions about the legitimacy of the government in place...

"Some of us we have gone through hell under Kenyatta, Moi and Kibaki regime. What Uhuru is currently trying is nothing but a shadow," Siaya senator Orengo said. That's right Orengo, you will never be satisfied whatever Uhuru does...he keeps mum, you call him a coward...provoke him, dance in his face! He reacts...you label him a dictator! What you really want is a coup. Uhuru should just hammer you and let the rest take care of itself. Why should the rest of the country be held ransom to your madness and irrational behaviour? Nenda zako!
