The High Court has ordered the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to return firearms confiscated from tycoon Jimmy Wanjigi.
In a ruling on Friday, High Court judge Anthony Mrima gave DCI director George Kinoti 30 days to hand back the guns to Wanjigi.
The firearms were confiscated in October 2017 after detectives raided the businessman’s residence in Muthaiga, Luedecke & Co. Ltd offices at Uganda House, and Armame Kenya Ltd situated at Utalii House in Nairobi.
Last year, Wanjigi filed a contempt of court case against Kinoti after he failed to return the firearms as directed in a past court ruling.
The DCI maintains that some of the guns seized from the billionaire are high-tech and should not be in the hand of a civilian. The agency also argues that Wanjigi lacks legal clearance to have some of the weapons.
"Investigations have revealed that Wanjigi holds more guns which he failed to surrender when ordered by the Firearms Licensing Board in the letter dated 30th January 2018...The two firearms were subjected to ballistics examination and a report by the DCI confirmed that they were prohibited," the court was told in a past session.
The firearms in question include a Smith and a Wesson pistol, a mini Archer assault rifle, a Glock pistol, and an M4CQ assault rifle.

Thanks God you are very powerless to kill anyone this guy you are insulting to include the president!
The only thing you know is to trap motorists along Nairobi/Naivash/Nakuru roads and the naivasha/kirima road heading to Kinangop! Did you not kill a man by the bridge at FryOver along Nairobi road and stole his watch?
You kill the women and take away their purses and stole small money of the vegetables they have sold.
You kill car owners, steal their cars and go sell them to Uganda and Tanzania! Did you not recently kill a guy and stole his Toyota Prado?
It is about the time the dci looks into your issue! Kenyans can’t allow a criminal to be trapping others and then terrorize them.
The other day you snatched two purses from a woman in ngikomba market in Nairobi. You need to be held accountable and I’m asking the government to track you down! You are a criminal of the highest order and your days are numbered!
You sound as a woman on HEAT/JOTO/MURUKI.Post your street address nije nikumalizie kama wiki jana.Sawa?
Jambazi Wanjigi is just another thug who should FACE THE FIRING SQUAND immediately Kenya’s bloody revolution starts.I wish one day the Kenyan reporters will explain why they refer such crooks as a honest tycoon.
