US to Build Sh438 Million Facility at Kenya Army School of Infantry

The US government is set to fund the construction of a simulation facility at the Kenya Army School of Infantry in Isiolo.

The US government will partner with the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) to develop the Sh438 million facility that is expected to improve training for at least 3,000 army recruits trained at the school annually.

The multi-million-shilling project is part of the US commitment to strengthening security ties with Kenya by offering adequate training to KDF soldiers.

Major General Andrew Rohling, the US Army Southern European Task Force, Africa Commander said the US is committed to supporting Kenya's fight against terrorism and piracy.

“The U.S. Army remains committed to the KDF by building interoperability among our troops and improving military institutions,” said Rohling.

“I am proud of the work the U.S. Army has done to assist the KDF, and I look forward to the future opportunities that will build upon our longstanding partnership.”

Rohling was speaking during a ceremony to officiate the new simulator facility at the Kenya Army School of Infantry in Isiolo.

He was on an official visit to Kenya to broaden and strengthen the security partnership between the two countries, according to the US embassy in Nairobi.
