Kalonzo: I Should Not Be Required to Apply to Be Raila’s Running Mate
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka insists that he is the most suitable running mate candidate for the Azimio-One Kenya coalition presidential flagbearer Raila Odinga.
This comes after the coalition party’s council, which is chaired by President Kenyatta, on Wednesday appointed a seven-member advisory panel to assist and advise Odinga to pick his running mate. The team is expected to submit the name (s) of the Deputy President nominee on or before May 10th.
In an interview with KTN News on Thursday, Musyoka said he should not be asked to apply for the running mate position, adding that it is obvious he is the best choice for the post.
"If we were to tell each other the truth and everyone in our team knows the right thing to do. I do not understand why anyone would ask me to apply for the position of running mate. Did Raila apply to be the flag bearer?" he posed.
Musyoka warned that Raila will lose a majority of the votes from the Ukambani region if he fails to pick him as his running mate.
"Truth be told, it will be difficult to access the votes in Ukambani," he told KTN.
He stated that his ticket with Odinga is the surest way for the Azimio-One Kenya outfit to clinch the presidency on August 9th, adding that they won in previous elections but they were rigged out.
"Whenever Raila and I run together, we can't lose any election. I keep on saying that in 2013 we won and ended up not to win. Again in 2017, we won according to us but again we didn't win. Now in 2022, I have said that I will support my brother Raila and obviously we will win," he said.
