US Issues a Security Alert Ahead of Kenya's Elections, Warns Citizens Against Traveling to Kisumu

The United States Embassy in Nairobi has issued a security advisory ahead of next week’s general elections in Kenya, warning citizens against traveling to Kisumu.

In a security alert dated August 2nd, the embassy indicated that Kenya has periodically experienced some pre-electoral violence during election cycles.

“Election-related demonstrations and rallies regularly take place in the run-up to the election and are likely to continue, at times blocking key intersections and causing traffic jams,” the embassy noted.

It further warned that demonstrations may occasionally be violent, requiring police intervention, adding that strikes and other protest activities related to economic conditions occur regularly.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the Embassy has imposed movement restrictions on personnel in Kisumu. The State Department reminds U.S citizens of the continued need for sustained vigilance,” the embassy added.

The embassy urged American nationals to keep monitoring local media for updates, avoid crowds, avoid demonstrations, keep a low profile, be aware of their surroundings, and be vigilant when visiting banks or ATMs.

They are also required not to display signs of wealth, such as wearing expensive jewelry or watches, review their personal security plans, have travel documents up to date and easily accessible, and carry proper identification, including a copy of the bio-page of their U.S. passport with a copy of a current Kenyan visa.

Really? Kenyans should have warned citizens too about police genocide as well as insurrections in the states. Tone deaf.

Uhuru is busy inciting the good people of Rift Valley. We have it in record that the DCI had started this hate monger game a while ago. If they go through with this incitement, ICC is waiting for them. Or the the peoples justice will prevail.

The US through its own intelligence already know Raila is loosing. And this explains why avoiding Kisumu as protests and mayhem will take place.
