Gachagua Takes Oath as Kenya’s Second Deputy President

Geoffrey Rigathi Gachagua has been sworn in as Kenya’s second Deputy President.

Gachagua, 57, took the Oath of Allegiance of the Deputy President and the Oath of the Due Execution of the Office of the Deputy President at Kasarani Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

The oaths were administered by Chief Registrar of Judiciary Anne Amadi in the presence of Chief Justice Martha Koome and Attorney-General Paul Kihara Kariuki.

Gachagua, who was accompanied by his wife Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, is the second occupier of the Office of the Deputy President of Kenya, which was first occupied by President Ruto.

Prior to his election as the Deputy President, Gachagua served as the Member of Parliament for Mathira Constituency from 2017 to 2022.
