Anne Waiguru Elected Council of Governors Chairperson

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has been elected the new Council of Governors (CoG) chairperson, becoming the first female governor to hold the post.

Waiguru, who successfully defended her seat in the August 9th general election on a UDA party ticket, will be deputised by Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi while Nandi’s Stephen Sang takes over as the Chief Whip.

Lobbying, negotiations, and finally consensus ensured that Waiguru becomes the new CoG chairperson, beating her Kajiado counterpart Joseph Ole Lenku of Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition.

The election was held on Saturday following a three-day induction for the newly elected governors and deputy governors in Mombasa.

Waiguru is the sixth CoG Chairperson since the onset of devolution in 2013. The other CoG chairs were Bomet’s Isaac Ruto (2013-2015), Meru’s Peter Munya (2015-2017), Turkana’s Josphat Nanok (2017-2019), Kakamega’s Wycliffe Oparanya (2019-2021) and Embu’s Martin Wambora (2021-2022).

Where was that comment when he was supporting 'baba'? Kenyans forget really fast. Mzoee hiyo sauti ya Waiguru sasa. Sore losers are the worst; cry babies. Na mzoee Ruto pia for 10 years and KK for 20 years. 🤫✌️

Why 47 counties(total 48 governments) in the first place?Ati like US which are 50 self developed economies/countries forming one great country.Only Mombasa,Taita-Taveta,Narok,Nairobi,Kericho,Kiambu and Nakuru counties can finance themselves. All others depend on Nairobi. In US poor states like SC,MS or LA are also industrialized.I wonder where Kenya is headed to with the current rate of closure and relocation of businesses and industries due to heavy taxation and demand for “official”kickbacks.

This woman is the best example of Corruption in our country. This stinks to the core. The fleecing of Wananchi continues. Kenyans have decaying moral values. We keep rewarding the most corrupt folks with government jobs over and over. Do we enjoy being f***** over and over. We have tons of well educated young people all over the country. Why do we keep recycling these corrupt people over and over. Dumb Kenyans. We never learn.
