President Ruto has awarded IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati with the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (EGH), the second highest national honor after the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart (CGH).

Chebukati, who is set to leave office in January after heading the electoral commission for six years, was among the 483 Kenyans awarded for their outstanding service to the nation in different capacities as part of the 59th Jamhuri Day celebrations.

His Holiness Dr. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, a spiritual leader of the worldwide Dawoodi Bohra community, was awarded the first-class Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart (CGH), the highest national honor. The spiritual leader was recognized for his humanitarian and charitable work in Kenya.

The second-class Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (EGH) was presented to Chebukati and 12 others while the third-class Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart (MGH) was given to National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gladys Shollei, National Assembly majority leader Kimani Ichung'wah (Kikuyu MP) and minority leader Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja MP). Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot also received the award among five others.

Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS) was awarded to MPs Robert Mbui (Kathiani), Owen Baya (Kilifi North), Sylvanus Osoro (South Mugirango) and Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu) among nine others.

Outgoing IEBC commissioners Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu received the second-class Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS) among 33 others.

Chebukati is the man! A true patriot who stood his ground to do the right thing at the crucial moment of choosing between good and evil. He chose the former. God bless him mightily, even in his retirement life.

Chebukati hastahili kupokea tuzo yoyote. Kwa nini? Aliwaruhusu watu wenye tabia za ajabu kugombea viti vya bunge.

These honors should go to the average Kenyan who struggles everyday to afford Sh.210 to buy unga, wakes up everyday to toil in the mjenga industry in order to afford sh.2000 rent in the many slums spread out throughout the country, and last but not least to the single mother who hawks goods in any neighborhood in the country in order to educate and feed her children. The likes of Chebukati do not even know how much a loaf of bread costs.

Isn't this some doomed shit??? Chebukati will answer to every corruption he conducted at IEBC no matter how long it takes; even after the next 10 years.
