Peter Kenneth Back in Nairobi Race for Governor, Announces He’s Running as an Independent
Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth has announced that he is contesting the Nairobi gubernatorial seat as an independent.
Kenneth, who lost to Senator Mike Sonko in the Jubilee primaries after garnering 62,504 votes against Sonko’s 138,185 votes, says his decision was prompted by a “sham Jubilee Party nominations full of irregularities.”
In a media briefing held at his campaign headquarters in Nairobi, Kenneth doubted the qualifications of Sonic to be Nairobi Governor, saying Sonko has no managerial experience. “You can’t say you will do the politics while another person will be the manager. Nairobi cannot survive with a figure head Governor,” said Kenneth.
Kenneth said he will name his running mate next week.
