Former Chief Government pathologist Moses Njue was on Monday arraigned in court where he was charged with stealing a human body part.

The doctor is accused of stealing Benedict Karau's heart at Consolata Hospital in Meru in 2015 while performing a postmortem.

Njue was also charged with removing without permission and destroying Karau's heart. Appearing before Meru Chief Magistrate Lucy Ambasi, the pathologist denied the charges and was released on Sh500,000 cash bail.

Last month, Njue, who is now the Embu Level V hospital Chief Executive Officer (CEO), was charged with stealing the heart of Timothy Mwandi Muumbo in June 2015 at Lee Funeral Home while performing an autopsy. He denied the charges and was freed on  Sh1 million bond.

The hearing for the new case is scheduled for August 6th.
