Why Lawyer Cliff Ombeta Has Refused to Represent Alleged Quack Doctor Mugo wa Wairimu

John Wanjohi Nov 15, 2018

Suspected quack doctor James Mugo Ndichu alias Mugo wa Wairimu will be forced to hire the services of another attorney after popular lawyer Cliff Ombeta refused to represent him in his latest case.

Ombeta represented Mugo when he first faced allegations of sedating female patients and sexually assaulting them at his unlicensed clinic in Nairobi's Githurai 44 area.

The lawyer successfully convinced the court to release Mugo on a bail of Sh2 million plus a surety of similar amount.

Mugo was arrested in Gachie area, Kiambu County on Tuesday evening by Flying Squad officers over accusations of operating another illegal clinic in Kayole estate, Nairobi.

Lawyer Ombeta says he will not represent Mugo in the latest case over fears of facing backlash from women. Mugo is said to have continued with his criminal activities including raping sedated women at his new clinic in Kayole named, Milan International Clinic.

“Being a man with a daughter, I do not want to be involved in this matter. I have managed to get him out on previous matters but now I have decided this matter is a little bit murky. I tend to also think the energy that I will receive is negative especially from ladies and women,” says Ombeta, adding that Mugo has offered him Sh1 million.

Besides Mugo, Ombeta has represented murder suspects Governor Okoth Obado and Joseph 'Jowie' Irungu, as well as drug trafficking suspects, the Akasha brothers.
