Starehe MP Jaguar Takes Governor Mike Sonko to Court over Ban on Boda Bodas in Nairobi CBD

Starehe Member of Parliament Charles Njagua alias Jaguar has moved to court to challenge the imposition of a ban on boda boda riders within the Nairobi Central Business District by the county government.

In a case filed against Governor Mike Sonko's administration, Njagua argues that the ban is punitive as it will render many motorcycle riders jobless.

“Boda boda ban has caused a great public outcry as it has stripped many individuals of their noble source of livelihood therefore leaving many to wallow in joblessness and poverty in this hard economic times,” The MP said through lawyer Duncan Okatch .

On Tuesday, Nairobi county issued the ban and warned that anyone found contravening it will be arrested and their motorcycles seized in addition to paying hefty fines.

The county said the ban was arrived at after the rise in incidents of robbery committed by criminals who later escape on motorbikes.

Is CBD part of Starehe and if so where have you been when Kenyans were being mugged by this bodabodas. You need to house them in your office where they can pick up and drop off passengers at will. There was a time when bodabodas did not exist.Nairobi will survive.

Is this wretched government working for the people or just out to score points against each other? Undermining your colleague and misusing the courts is daft. Uhuru better gather these "boys" and give them a lesson in team work to arrive at a cohesive goal. I am sick and tired of this mess. We don't have men in power, they are all boys (and girls). Hiyo pesa he will use for the court would be better used to empower the boda boda guys with coming up with innovative ideas to combat the deficit he thinks Sonko has created. Town is congested and busting at the seams, that's a fact!

Jaguar is a big shame. He would have stayed in his singing career instead of joining politics. He is displaying his ignorance & stupidity

Grow up! This jaguar is so naive or clueless. What is there to pinga about bodas entering city center. Grow a ball if not two.

Do you need to go court for that? And drag the Governor of Nairobi there? Just pay him a visit in his offices and present your case as the MP. Wasting time for political gain is stupid and nothing less than stupid.
