More than 100 Jubilee MPs have stopped remitting monthly subscription fees to the ruling party.
The MPs allied to Deputy President William Ruto wrote to the National Assembly clerk Michael Sialai demanding that the money be channeled to other accounts.
Sialai told The Star that most of the MPs want the Sh10,000 subscription fees deducted from their salaries every month to be paid to Kazi ni Kazi, a welfare group affiliated with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
“Once such application is made and duly signed, the clerk acts as directed,” Sialai said.
Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi in a letter to Sialai asked him to slash his monthly subscription fee to Jubilee from Sh10,000 to Sh50.
“I hereby Instruct that a monthly deduction of Ksh9,950 from my salary account be done in favor of Kazi ni Kazi Welfare Group, Effect 1st March 2021,” the letter reads in part.
UDA party, whose symbol and slogan is a wheelbarrow and ‘Kazi ni Kazi respectively, is associated with Ruto.
