ICC Confirms Receiving Petition Against Raila, Kalonzo

The International Criminal Court (ICC) at The Hague has confirmed it received a petition lodged by two Kenyans seeking investigations on National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka.

In a letter by the Office of the Prosecutor dated October 17, 2017, the ICC acknowledged receipt of the petition filed by Kenyans.

“This communication has been duly entered in the communication register of the office. We will give consideration to this communication, as appropriate in accordance with the provisions of the Rome statute of the international criminal court,” the letter read in part.

The court, however, clarified that receiving the letter does not mean investigations had launched or will be launched.

“Please note that acknowledgement letter does not mean an investigation has opened, or that it will be opened by the office of the prosecutor,” read the letter.

The court said it will communicate to the petitioners once they arrive to a decision whether to launch investigations or not.

Kenneth Otieno and Martin Nkari hired the services of a Canadian law firm, Watson Jacobs McCreary LLP and filed the petition last week at the Netherlands-based court.

The two asked ICC Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda to probe the two opposition leaders on grounds of committing diverse crimes against humanity.

They named “ethnic violence, mobilisation and profiling, rape, sexual and gender-based crimes, targeted aggression, violent utterances and constant calls to violent demonstrations and call to arms” as the reasons behind their plea to the ICC.

Thou shalt drink from the brook and not from thou golden cup. Uhuru and Ruto remained calm as you incited your people into demonstrations that resulted in mayhem and property destruction. Now, the ICC is waiting. Investigations have not been launched but I assure you they will be and you will be found culpable. So, get your legal team ready. Ooooh Kalonzo, why did you get yourself in this mess?

My advice to Raila and Kalonzo is the same as I have been saying on this forum.Conduct yourself in a peaceful manner.Let the ordinary mwananchi elect the leaders of their choice in a peaceful manner.Let the ordinary mwananchi be free from threats of baseless demonstrations and hooliganism. All Kenyans regardless of tribe need to move on with their lives.

Before you prosecute Kalonzo and Raila, first prosecute Uhuru and Ruto for the deaths of over 1,000 innocent Kenyans who lost their lives and the many more others who were crippled after the failed elections of 2007! We all know what Moreno Ocampo did in Hague!

By the way, today there were no demos after Rao called them off. So these demos are not spontaneous as we were made to believe in the 07/08 clashes. If one can call on and call off demos that result in loss of life and property, then at some degree they must be responsible for the loss.

Raila and Kalonzo does not command any force of this Country apart from their loyal supporters who demonstrates without Teargas and Loaded guns. they don't have a business community supporttees with tobbako sniffs and dread lock hairs with red eyes. luos cannot kill themselves neither Luyha, kamba, digo and the entire Nasa supportters. am not from Kikuyu or Luo or Kalenjin tribe but am a patriotic Kenyan and I love my Country so much. I think its high time all Kenyans to put our beautiful country first than individual. Let us request our political leaders to put aside their issues and divides aside and create room for dialogue for the betterment of you and me, my children and your children, my parents and your parents.
