NYS Scandal: Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru Threatens to Sue Nyali MP Mohamed Ali for Defamation

Kirinyanga Governor Anne Waiguru has issued a seven-day ultimatum to Nyali Member of Parliament Mohammed Ali to apologize for linking her to the Sh9 billion scandal at the National Youth Service (NYS).

Waiguru has threatened to sue the first time MP if he fails to make a written apology over the claims within seven days.

"Take notice that unless we hear from you [ within the stipulated time frame] we have mandatory instructions to institute legal proceedings against you at your own peril as to costs and attendant consequences," Waiguru's lawyer Mohammed Muigai said in a statement.

"Our client instructs that the defamatory words are actuated by extreme malice and calculated to cause [her] to be ridiculed and treated with contempt and disclaim," Muigai said.

Ali, popularly known as Jicho Pevu, issued a statement at the Parliament on Tuesday implicating Waiguru, and nine others into the scam at the youth agency.

"Evidence brought to my attention now points to the alleged involvement of other senior government officials, banks and business people whose names have been studiously avoided both by investigators and the media," he said while speaking in Parliament.

The former investigative journalist also named 40 companies that he alleged they illegally received millions of shillings in the scam.

He also mentioned Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri, businessman Ben Gethi, former NYS boss Nelson Githinji, NYS Deputy director Sam Muchuki, Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki, Police Inspector Julius Muia and former Director of Criminal Investigation Ndegwa Muhoro.

Others in Ali's list are Petrol Kenya oil company limited co-directors Gor Semelango and Peter Gathecha, who is President Kenyatta's uncle.

"The evidence I have seen suggests that they have benefited from the payments that could be irregular or illegal," Ali said.

Have you noticed how fast these criminals threaten to sue just to change the narrative. She stole tons of money and somehow got away with it. It is nice to have friends in high places Waiguru. So many crooks, so little time.

Let he go ahead and sue Jicho Pevu and Moha will present his evidence to support his claims. Moha has proven over and over again that he is a credible, competent investigative former journalist.
