Narok Governor Samuel Tunai Decamps to UDA to Vie for Senate Seat

Narok Governor Samuel Ole Tunai has decamped to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) from the Jubilee Party ahead of the August 9th elections.

Tunai, whose second and final term as the governor of Narok expires in August, was received to UDA by Deputy President William Ruto at his Karen residence on Friday.

Tunai declared that he will contest for the county’s senatorial seat in the upcoming elections on a UDA party ticket.

He said his decision to join UDA was informed by his belief in Ruto’s presidential candidacy and his plan to revamp the country’s economy through the bottom-up model. "We firmly believe that you are the right person to take this country to the next level. I totally believe in your agenda for this country and the people of Kenya," Tunai said.

"Because we believe in continuity, we decided that I go for the Senate seat and I’m requesting the people of Narok to elect me as their Senator and Patrick Ntutu as the governor."

While welcoming Tunai to UDA, Ruto exuded confidence that he will emerge as the winner of the August 9th presidential contest.

"I want to commend Tunai as governor for hiendeavorur to work together with all the communities and bringing on board all the communities. Sasa team yetu ya Narok imekamilika na tuko tayari katika uchaguzi unaokuja,” said the DP.

Tunai will face off with incumbent Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina and Kilgoris MP Gideon Konchellah, among other candidates.
