IEBC Dismisses Raila's Fake Ballot Papers Claims

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has refuted to claims by Raila Odinga that fake ballot papers were being printed at a warehouse in Industrial Area in Nairobi.

In a statement, the IEBC said that printing of ballots was yet to start abd urged Kenyans to disregard the claims.

"Dubai-based Al Ghurair has yet not started printing presidential ballot papers for the October 26 rerun, " the Commission stated.

IEBC Commissioner Roselyn Akombe assured the country that the commission was fully prepared to conduct the October 26th repeat election.

“The only area to be impacted is the electronic transmission of results and we are working with our service providers on how that can be adjusted," Commissioner Akombe was quoted by the Star.

The electoral body was responding to remarks by National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga on Wednesday.

Speaking in an interview with Radio Jambo Raila alleged that Jubilee had printed fake ballots at a godown in Industrial Area.

Raila said that Nasa was in possession of evidence of Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju and President Uhuru Chief Agent Davis Chirchir supervising the printing.

“If you go there right now, you will find the papers. What they wanted to do is fill them and stuff them in ballot boxes and say these are the votes,” Raila explained.
