MP Otiende Amollo Declines to Share Platform with Counterpart Kimani Ichung'wa, Walks Out of Live TV debate

Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo on Tuesday walked out of a live television debate on NTV to boycott the inclusion of Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa in the debate.

Despite persuasion by NTV host anchor Ken Mijungu, the MP stormed out of the debate moments after Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa walked in.

The lawyer declined to share a panel with the Kikuyu MP citing a a tweet in which he alleged was posted by Ichung'wa.

"Ken allow me to leave. I cannot sit on a panel with Kimani Ichung'wa because he sent a tweet that I find offensive, a tweet that suggests its okay to maim and kill Luos," Amollo said as he unplugged a microphone pinned on his chest.

The alleged tweet by Ichung'wa was lauding police killings on National Super Alliabce anti-IEBC protesters in the ongoing opposition demonstrations.

However, Ichung'wa told Mijungu that the alleged Twitter account that posted the tweet did not belong to him.

"That's not my Twitter account," Ichung'wa said.

"I only have one Twitter account. I am in the process of having it verified. I even suspect these fake accounts are being created and operated by Nasa propagandists."

"To the Luo nation, if there is someone you will never find fuelling ethnic hate, it's Kimani Ichung'wa. Most of my friends are Luos and Somalis."

Former Raila Odinga aide, Miguna Miguna, who was also expected to be a panellist on the show, failed to turn up.
