Raila Claims Police Detained Him at Jimmy Wanjigi's House
Opposition leader Raila Odinga claims that police temporarily detained him at billionaire businessman Jimi Wanjigi’s house on Tuesday night.
Speaking to the media at Wanjigi's residence on Wednesday, the National Super Alliance (NASA) leader condemned the raid on Wanjigi's home despite an order by the blocking police from accessing the premise.
On his part, Jimmy Wanjigi termed the 72 hours raid on his house as unjustified and complete fabrication. He said that the fire arms seized from the house were all licensed.
“I am an innocent man whatever was being publicized is a fabrication, the firearms that were found in my home were licensed, “said Jimi Wanjigi.
The businessman said that no amount of intimidation would deter him from supporting former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and called on Kenyans to rally behind him.
“This home was totally vandalized, it was wanton destruction of private property - this behavior shows that state is a rogue and it started after Supreme Court ruling on presidential election, “ Raila who spent the night at Wanjigi’s home in Muthaiga said.
Wanjigi’s Lawyers led by Siaya Senator James Orengo said they will sue Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett and Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko for contempt of court.
Orengo accused police of disregarding high court’s order and went ahead to raid Jimmy Wanjigi’s residence in Muthaiga.
