Former Machakos Senator Muthama Dumps Kalonzo for DP Ruto

Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has thrown his weight behind Deputy President William Ruto.

On Tuesday, Muthama told a local TV station that his focus at the moment is drumming up support for Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid and will stop at nothing to ensure the DP ascend to power.

“At the moment I’m working on how Ruto will be elected the next president of Kenya with a party that will bring Kenyans together,” said Muthama.

Muthama indicated that he joined forces with Ruto after Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka dropped his quest to succeed President Kenyatta in 2022.

“…the party leader I was supporting [Kalonzo] has withdrawn his candidature and said he will support Uhuru to go for a third term,” noted Muthama.

Muthama spoke hours after Wiper Party served him with a two-week notice to explain why he should not face disciplinary action for violating the party’s constitution.

Wiper through a letter signed by Chairman Chirau Ali Mwakwere accused Muthama of making political statements that are against the party’s ideals.

Muthama is further accused of neglecting his duties as a member of Wiper’s National Executive Committee (NEC).

But responding to the notice, Muthama clarified that “the day I said I don’t want Wiper’s certificate is the day I said I am not part and parcel of a party that sells nomination to the highest bidder.”
