Are you a passionate disability rights advocate in Kenya looking to expand your network and learn from counterparts in the United States? If so, an exciting new fellowship program presents an unmissable opportunity.
The 2025 US Department of State Professional Fellows Program on Inclusive Civic Engagement is now accepting applications from emerging Kenyan leaders in the disability rights movement. This fully-funded five-week fellowship will take place in the US in Spring 2025. During the fellowship, approximately 12 mid-career Kenyan disability rights professionals will be matched with American host organizations. They will share insights, learn best practices, and develop an action plan for an inclusive civic engagement project to implement back home in Kenya after the fellowship concludes.
In addition to the invaluable experience working with US partners, fellows will attend the Professional Fellows Congress in Washington D.C. to connect with over 100 emerging leaders from around the world. US host organizations may also visit Kenya later to provide additional support for fellows' projects. To qualify, applicants must be Kenyan citizens between 25-40 years old, with at least two years of relevant professional experience. English proficiency is required, as is eligibility to obtain a US J-1 visa.
The fellowship covers round-trip airfare, accommodation, living allowances, insurance, and more. Disability accommodations will also be provided as needed. The application deadline is May 15, 2024. This incredible chance is open to disability rights professionals from Kenya, presenting them with the opportunity to represent their country, acquire new skills, and establish long-lasting connections with American colleagues. Apply today at PFPlnclusion.org and take your advocacy to new heights through the Professional Fellows Program on Inclusive Civic Engagement.
