Gachagua to Kenyans in Dallas: Join Movement to Reclaim Nation from Poor Leadership

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has initiated a strategic tour across the United States, engaging Kenyan diaspora communities in town hall meetings to galvanise support ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking in Richardson, Dallas, Gachagua warned of a critical juncture for Kenya, advocating for a fundamental reset of the nation's economic, political, and moral foundations. Gachagua’s commentary mirrors increasing dissatisfaction among opposition figures and sections of the public who perceive the current administration as failing to uphold constitutional principles and foster economic stability.

"We must reboot the economic, political and moral direction of our country for the good of our future and generations to come," he said.

The former deputy president emphasised the vital role of the diaspora in shaping Kenya’s trajectory, highlighting their contributions through foreign exchange remittances and civic participation. He lamented the historical marginalisation of diaspora voices in policymaking, despite their substantial economic impact.

His engagements have centred on electoral justice, governance, and the inclusion of youth and Gen Z in political reform – issues he presents as pivotal to national renewal. Accompanied by former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, Gachagua's itinerary includes visits to Washington, Boston, Maryland, and Texas, with the aim of building momentum for what he terms a liberation movement against deficient leadership and systemic injustice.
