Joho, Buzeki Lead in New Infotrak Poll

A new popularity poll indicates that if elections were held today, Independent candidate Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprop popularly known as ‘Buzeki’ would trounce Jubilee Party candidate Jackson Mandago in the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial race with 54.2 per cent.

The survey conducted by Kenya’s leading Pollster firm Infotrak Research and Consulting released on Friday showed that Buzeki, who lost to Mandago in the race for Jubilee Party ticket in the April primaries had surpassed Mandago, who has 42.1 per cent popularity.

In the Mombasa gubernatorial race, incumbent Ali Hassan Joho of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) would win after recording 63 per cent popularity. Shahbal Suleiman of Jubilee managed 15.3 per cent, while Mombasa senator Hassan Omar of Wiper is third at 4.8 per cent.

Governor Wycliffe Oparanya of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) would trounce his arc-rival Boni Khalwale of Ford Kenya after scoring 68.3 per cent to Khalwale’s 13.1 per cent.

Infotrak Research and Consulting Business Development Manager Mary Mburu said 900 respondents were interviewed in Uasin Gishu County, 1,000 in Mombasa while 1,800 from Kakamega in the study.
