Raila Travels to the US to Address Congress
National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga is this week expected to travel to the United States.
While in the US, Raila will address the US Congress on his pursuit for electoral reforms and the resistance against the Jubilee administration.
Speaking to the Nation, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula said Raila's tour to the US is aimed at shedding light about the political crisis facing Kenya.
The Nasa co-principal said Raila will also seek the endorsement of the US Congress in his quest for restoration of democracy in the country.
“He is going to address the congress on the situation in Kenya,” Mr Wetang’ula told the Nation on telephone.
Speaking while drumming support for Ford Kenya’s candidate for the Kitutu Chache South parliamentary seat Richard Onyonka on Saturday, Wetang'ula said Odinga’s speech to the US Congress will focus on the electoral injustices in Kenya.
“Mr Kenyatta can have the crown but we will not let him have the power,” he said adding the president is trying to destroy democracy in the country.
Wetang’ula also said he will lead a delegation to the European Union to seek support for the Nasa cause.
Nasa has already launched its National Resistance Movement (NRM), whose main agenda will be to oppose what they view as an illegitimately elected Jubilee government.
On Friday, NRM Parliamentary wing announced the beginning of products boycott of companies they claim have been supporting an oppressive regime.
