Maraga Orders Parties in Presidential Petitions to File Responses by Sunday
Chief Justice David Maraga has directed President Uhuru Kenyatta, Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Chairperson Wafula Chebukati and National Super Alliance (NASA) to file their responses to petitions challenging October 26th repeat election by 5pm on Sunday.
The first petition was filed on Monday by former Kilome Member of Parliament Harun Mwau, who named IEBC, chairman Wafula Chebukati and president Uhuru kenyatta as the respondents.
The second petition was lodged Njonjo Mue and Khelef Khalifa and lists Uhuru, IEBC, Chebukati and NASA as the respondents.
In a statement on Wednesday, Chief Justice said the responses should not exceed 30 pages of at least font 12 and double spacing, while those wishing to be enjoined in the case as interested parties or friends of the court should limit their submissions to five pages.
"Responses to such applications should be filed and served together with written submissions thereon," Maraga said.
