Shock as Kenyan Granny, 55, Hacks 99-Year-Old Husband to Death over Food

Police in Kandara, Murang’a County are holding a 59-year-old woman who allegedly hacked her 99-year-old husband to death.

Margaret Wanjiru is reported to have used a machete to slit Ndung’u Mugachia’s throat following a disagreement over food. Mugachia had just woken up and was warming himself by the fire in his son’s house when he was brutally attacked by his wife.

Reports indicate that the suspect had picked a quarrel with her husband before she dashed to the kitchen and came back wielding a machete. The Sunday morning incident left residents of Kagumo-ini village in Gaichanjiru ward in shock.

Wanjiru has allegedly been having endless marital issues and had been denying her husband food, according to her daughter-in-law Betty Mumbi.

The deceased’s daughter Sarafina Nyambura said their mother has been on and off her matrimonial home for the last five years.

Danson Ngige, brother to the deceased, claimed the suspect subjected his brother to torture due to a disagreement about how his land should be subdivided.

Wanjiru is being held at Kabati Police Station pending arraignment in court while the body of the deceased was moved to Gaichanjiru Catholic mission hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

"Danson Ngige, brother to the deceased, claimed the suspect subjected his brother to torture due to a disagreement about how his land should be subdivided" This is the main reason the nanogenarian was hacked. Not over food...I would chance to say that Mzee's division idea on land was diametrically opposed to his greedy wife's. I might also add that she was tired of seeing him around at 99.Not to mention that her going, and coming frequency, did not endear well to mzee who it appears despite his age was still of sound mind.
And no Iam not going to rate her as the"female scammer of the month",we still have afew more weeks to go.Stay tuned.

It's all about land.
The husband wasn't dying fast enough.
I won't call it gold digging but there is a 40 year age gap.
But from what I've read, the wife just wanted the old man to go.
Although this is common in Kenya...
Remember all we hear is an old man was found dead by the fire place.
