US-Based Kenyan Woman Spreads Christmas Cheer with Cash Gifts to 250 Families

In an interview, philanthropic police officer Sammy Ngare shares a heartwarming story of generosity conveyed by Nyamwaya during the Thanksgiving celebration in the US.

Nyamwaya, driven by a desire to extend blessings to those in need back in Kenya, embarked on a unique mission. Recognizing that many individuals in Kenya lacked phones, she decided to gift them mulikamwizi phones (feature phones). What began as a small act of kindness quickly snowballed into a movement, blessing more than 15 people with these phones.

As the initiative gained momentum, some recipients expressed a preference for something different for Christmas. Nyamwaya turned to Ngare for guidance on creating a Christmas budget, seeking advice on what items would make meaningful gifts. Ngare suggested essentials such as sugar, maize and wheat flour, and cooking oil, ensuring that the gifts would bring joy and practical support.

Nyamwaya, a Kenyan native who migrated to the USA 26 years ago after attending Loreto Convent Limuru High School, is not only an Award-Winning retired nurse but also an accomplished author, speaker, life insurance agent, and the founder of The African Nurses Network Inc. (TANN). Hailing from Gusii, Nyamwaya intimately understands the challenges of growing up with limited resources.

In another story of Christmas cheer, entrepreneur Sarah Kabu surprised her dedicated nanny, Caro, with a remarkable Christmas present—a brand-new couch worth KSh 25,000. The heartwarming moment was captured on video and shared on Kabu's Instagram account. Adding to the surprises, Kabu revealed that her husband recently built a home for Caro, who serves as their daytime nanny.

These heartwarming stories of generosity and compassion showcase the ripple effect of goodwill, inspiring others to make a positive impact in their communities during the holiday season.

Good job. Christmas is the celebration of birth of Tammuz. Jesus Christ was not born in Dec 25th. That is the biggest lie people have been told. Santa Claus is St. Nicholas who is the devil.
