Kenyans Online React to Photo of Gender CS Sicily Kariuki's Bodyguard Carrying Her Handbag

A photo of a bodyguard belonging to Youth and Gender Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki, carrying her handbag moments before a press briefing by President Uhuru Kenyatta at his Harambee house office on August 14 has gone viral on social media, eliciting mixed reaction among Kenyans online.

The image, captured by photographer Hezron Njoroge has left tongues wagging, eliciting a heated debate among social media users.

While some argued that it was not right for the bodyguard's to carry the handbag and the same time protect her with his hand occupied, others were of the opinion that it is within the boardguards duty to carry his boss's handbag.

Here are some of the reactions by Kenyans on Facebook.

Madende Janam, "The bodyguard is honoured to carry Madam CS’s most sensitive paraphernalia. That bag must be heavy-duty. As a bodyguard things can’t get better at work!"

Rispa Mururu, "If the man was carrying a briefcase for a male CS, which happens, it wouldn’t have the same judgement because it wouldn’t even make news. Now tell us what’s the real issue here?"

Madende Janam, "The bodyguard is honoured to carry Madam CS’s most sensitive paraphernalia. That bag must be heavy-duty. As a bodyguard things can’t get better at work!"

Muna Mohammed, "Can she hire a PA??And let the bodyguard do his job of protecting her?"

Abraham Wangila Wafula,"Who knows, maybe he is her husband. Some employee their spouses as drivers and bodyguards."

Peter Gaclean, "May be he guards many sides.but that is not our concern."

Francine Mapenzi, "In a situation like this the man is not cooperating in some personal issues apart from his job, so he’s punished, watching a movie though,".

Patkanjo Wangari Pakawa,"TOTAL ABUSE,,,na zile viti za wanawake zikianguka."

David Mwangi Waruter: " This is what happens when power gets into one’s head. Why should a lady’s handbag be carried by ANY man?
Even the Queen of England carries her own bag."

Tabi Riri: "Mimi sioni shida.Mwanaume ako job."

Ng’ang’a Thomas Kimar: " I think “mind your own business ” is appropriate or talk to head of security detail."

"Maybe the handbag can be converted to a leathal weappn when need be,". Jennifer Njoroge.

De Hud Mchelsea: " what if the bodyguard is also her man?? who knows…..maybe it’s power of love."

@Kioko you are right , the so called KOT which represents idle wannabe who spend precious time attacking anyone and everything that does not agree with them and their unsolicitated opinions. If they have so much time giving opinions on trivia stuff, they should go volunteer somewhere or clean that dirty city they are living in ..Go to Kibra and other slums and do some good. KOT needs to get out of their high horse, they do not represent all Kenyans nkt!

Precisely, the new breed of bored KOT people , spend time writing characters rather than read or do something productive . I can't stand them, they are like ambulance chasers looking for something to tweet about to make them famous ...ugh....useless generation !

Madam CS, your message is loud and clear. I hope someone will isolate the message from who, why carry the bag.
