Lobby Group Calls for Unconditional Support for Ruto's 2022 Presidential Bid from Mt Kenya Region

A political lobby group dubbed Mount Kenya Youth Caucus (MKYC) has called for the unconditional support for Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid from the Mt. Kenya region.
In a statement, MKYC chairperson Linford Mutembei said Ruto has supported President Uhuru Kenyatta since the 2013 general election and should therefore be paid back with unwavering support from the Mt. Kenya region in his bid to succeed Uhuru.
Mutembei said the region is solidly behind Ruto's bid for the 2022 presidency, saying a few leaders from Mt. Kenya suggesting otherwise speak for themselves.
“Mr Ruto played a key role in the victory of Jubilee in 2013. He also did the same in August and October. He has been an asset and the only thing Mt Kenya people can do is to give him straightforward support for his 2022 bid and ask him and Rift Valley leaders to turn a deaf ear to a few leaders who have been suggesting that before the region votes for him, we should first go back to negotiations,” Mutembei told Journalists in Kiambu on Thursday.
In 2013, Ruto agreed to support President Uhuru until he completes two terms in office, after which Ruto will take over as Jubilee's flag bearer for the 2022 general elections.

I don't think Kikuyus owe Ruto anything cos this is not volunteer work he is doing. He is getting paid for it. Come 2022, whoever has the best interests for Kenyans should win. This idea of guaranteeing politicians jobs should cease, they work for us not the other way round.

You are wasting your time for nothing. This group better find something else to shout about. Ruto will find opposition in Jubilee whether he likes it or not. He has been used like a spare wheel and his job is almost over. What will happen is full blown enmity between Kikuyus and Kalenjins very soon. In 1992 there were more than 2 Kikuyus asking for presidency, all other elections have been the same. Once they identify a Kikuyu who will take over from Uhuru, Ruto will be kicked out. Uhuru won't be there to fight for him.

@imara. Your analysis is shallow and simplistic..The advocacy for Peace,Stability and Development is the key to top leadership in the Kenyan Political Establishment. Not which tribe someone comes from. When Kenyans look at their regional neighborhood they see South Sudan in chaos, they see the chaos in Somali, they remember the chaos in 2007-2008 in Kenya etc. Therefore they know that Peace is the number one political interest for the ordinary mwananchi. Therefore, those politicians that are the most ardent advocates for peace in the country will continue to attract the majority votes of peace loving Kenyans. Uhuru and Ruto have been advocating for Peace in the country and this explains their strong political support in the country.

B.... shut your mouth up. Do you even know what you are talking about? I am not a Kikuyu myself but I will tell you Kikuyu tribe is a more superior tribe than your tribe whichever tribe you belong to. They and Kalenjin tribe are ruling you now and will continue to rule you for unforeseeable future. Don't forget they liberated you from colonialists less than sixty years when your heathen tribe lived a salvage way. Do you think you can be equal with them?. Think twice before you say anything. Your parents lived in forests and plains of Nyanza fishing less than sixty years ago. Do you think you have acquired enough experience to rule people that have known civilization since the time of Pyramids? Kikuyu's and Kalenjins have to civilize your people first before allowing your tribe to rule. What is so difficult in not understanding that? A mistake of allowing salvage rule Kenya will result in destruction of the greatest economy in East Africa. Were it not for Kalenjins and Kikuyus taxes your tribe's economy cannot afford to pay salaries for your own Senator, MCA's and MP's who are busy now destroying our properties in Nairobi and elsewhere in the name of protesting IEBC. Govern your own area first before thinking you can develop ours. Have you been to Kiambu and Eldrolet and seen the billion Shs houses there? Do you think we can allow a person who lives in thatched huts manage our billion Shs estates?. Think twice Imara.

@Mugi, @anonymous, @Kwamboka, and @Kim: I am a Kenyan who comes from a very tiny micro-nation that you have not even heard of. I know the history of Kenya because I witnessed the struggle for independence and my mother was one of the causalities and shed her blood in Kenya.
To read about my myopic Kenyan brothers and sisters talking about the rapist (Ruto) and thief being elected the president of Kenya come 2022, makes me sick! To read about @Kwamboka talking about the Kikuyu and Kalenjin liberating Kenya, makes me sick again.
During the British colonialism in Kenya, it is true that the Gikuyu along with the Meru, Embu, Ndia, Gichugu, Mbeere, Tharaka, Chuka, and a few Kamba people fought for the independence of Kenya. Anyone reading what Kwamboka has written, would think that only the Gikuyu and the Kalenjin people fought for the independence of Kenya! WRONG!
The Kalenjin were the loyal policemen and military stooges of the British. I remember vividly when a Kalenjin policeman would stop you and ask, "Toa Gipande 'Kipande,' Napotesa magati yangu 'unapoteza wakati wangu.'" For goodness sake, please don't distort the true history of Kenya. We all know why Toroitich appointed his project (Uhuru) to take over from him. He, (Uhuru) had tried to enter the politics of Kenya but the wise people of Gatundu turned him down. When the brave heroes of our second liberation were being tortured and killed by Toroitich, Uhuru and Ruto were busy singing loudly the Kenyan famous song of dictatorship known as "Tawala Kenya Tawala."
I just got concerned that our new indigenous colonial masters (Kikuyu and Kalenjin) are ignoring the fact that other Kenyan women are capable of bearing future presidents of Kenya without any skeleton in their closets and who are also capable of running our republic and make it the safest, cleanest, and the richest country in Africa. When I think of our new "wabeberu," what comes in my mind is corruption, arrogance, and inefficient.
Kenya can definitely do better than what is going on right now. What we need is a new competent, efficient, and independent IEBC that will get rid of more than a half of the current elected hyenas, roaches, thieves, and thugs pretending to be our leaders.
With an efficient IEBC, Kenya will be able to recover from the current mess that it finds itself involved.

@Imara, that's why Vision 2030 was created. Behind the scene the purpose of Vision 2030 was basically to upgrade other tribes so that by 2030 they can be at per with Kikuyu's and Kalenjins in terms of experience and knowledge. That's why people like Maraga, Chebukati and Akombe were given those positions to test their skills. Akombe proved to be fraud while Chebukati has learned his mistakes. Maraga has another chance to do things right. I agree with you we are all Kenyans and we all have equal rights. However. I believe it would be a tragic for the custodians of our independence-Kikuyus and Kalenjins- to give it to give to inexperienced tribe like yours. Remember what happened to Uganda when inexperience Acholi tribe took over the government under the dictator Idi Amin?. The whole country collapsed and some tribes turned to cannibalism. You wouldn't want kenya to be like that. Would you? In Uganda neighbors did not know whether next door neighbor were stoking them for a meal or not. Kenya is a great country. It has the third strongest non oil producing economy in Africa thanks to the wise leadership of Kikuyu's and Kalenjins. Ruto is designated to become our President in 2022. He will rule us until 2032 when at that time the nation will be ready for a leader from other ethnic group.

@Imara, I am not A Kikuyu or a Kalenjin and neither am I a traitor to my tribe. I happen to love Kenya and I have also travelled to a lot of African countries and have seen how they are. I have been to Uganda during Idi Amin era, I have been to Tanzania during Nyerere's era, been to Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Zimbabwe, Angola, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Somalia and other African Countries. None of them can compare to Kenya. Kenya is the most developed and most stable of all of black Africa. I know if it was not for Kikuyu's and Kalenjins wise leadership Kenya would not be where it is today. I also Know Odinga's family and their Socialist orientation. Raila's father the late Jaramogi tried to recruit my father to work for him as a Socialist advocator in our town when he was fighting with Mzee Jomo Kenyatta over Russian sponsored hospital in Kisumu. Odinga's family intention then and now is to turn Kenya into a Socialist Country. I can never support him because supporting him is supporting destruction of my beloved country. Unfortunately a lot of my misguided tribesmen supports him but they are quite ignorant and uneducated. I agree there have been bad Kikuyus and Kalenjins who have taken advantage of their positions to steal public funds. Such as people like Kenyatta, Moi, Boiwott, Githunguri etc. but that does not mean all Kikuyu and Kalenjin people as bad as Raila want you to believe. I look at how many Kikuyus died fighting for our independent and how many of my tribesmen died doing the same. I don't know anybody from my tribe who died fighting for Kenyan Independent. Do Kikuyus families of those who died ask for favor or compensation from the Kenya government. The answer is NO. When Kenya got independent Kenyans regardless of whether they fought for the independence or not had the same right. Most people who got government jobs were Luos because they were and still are the most educated tribe. They were not freedom fighters and therefore had time to get education. The freedom fighters got marginalized. For better understanding please visit Nyandarua Country which is the home of freedom fighters and you will see how marginalized it is-No passable roads, No water, No hospitals- the place is as it was left by British almost sixty years ago. Even where Dedan Kimathi, the most prominent freedom fighter, was buried has never been disclosed despite the fact that the British government who buried him is still functional. Dedan Kimathi's wife lives in Njabini, Nyandarua County, as a destitute. Think about it Imara. Do Kikuyu people complain about this injustices. The answer is NO. They had an advantage and means to exploit other tribes including my own tribe but they did not. That's why I love them and adore them. They have worked hard for what they have. There are millions of them that are struggling to find food to eat but do you but they complain about injustice or destroy people's properties because of injustices. Do you Uhuru put food in their table or cares they are Kikuyus?. The answer is NO. Do you see them fighting back despite the fact that they have the numbers? The answer is NO. Those that are busy trying to destroy our country are doing so because they don't know the cost of a civil war. They have not shed blood so they don't know the pain of losing of a father, a sister, a brother, a son , a daughter or a grand parents. Raila is a demon that want to lead Kenya into astray!!!. If you have a somber mind you reject him. He is like a vampire. He is quenching for blood to spill in Kenya. He has a one way ticket to Moscow which his father left him as inheritance. Imara, Learn wise words from an man who have seen it all.

@Kwamboka,
I do appreciate your lengthy and detailed post about yourself and the many countries that you have visited in Africa.Thank you.
There is a famous saying from I believe one historian which says, "Today's oppressed tomorrow's oppressor." Mugaka Kwamboka, let us move south to Zimbabwe and see what Comrade Mugabe has done to the country! Does he deserve to remain on power indefinitely simply because he fought against Ian Smith?
I objected to your glorification of the Gikuyu people while ignoring the important role other micro-nations of Kenya played in the liberation of Kenya.
However, the struggle and the participation of several micro-nations of Kenya does not justify the current state of affairs when the Kikuyu and Kalenjin have taken the role of our local and indigenous colonial masters! What is their outcome of their rule for the last 54 years? The Kenyan police are the third most corrupt and inefficient in the world! Kenya as a country is the fourth most corrupt on the world.
I said before the election that neither Rails nor Uhuru is fit for leadership of our beautiful country! What we need at the moment is a cooling off period with an ad hoc government in order to do some serious internal soul searching and objectively forging ahead a better Kenya for all the people not just two most arrogant, inefficient, and corrupt micro-nations in power.
