Kenya Kwanza Nominates Wetang’ula for National Assembly Speaker Post

President-elect William Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza Alliance has nominated Bungoma senator-elect Moses Wetang’ula to the position of Speaker of the National Assembly.
The announcement was made by Kenya Kwanza co-principal Musalia Mudavadi during the alliance’s meeting in Karen, Nairobi, on Saturday.
Mudavadi, who is party leader of ANC, said the coalition’s principals had agreed that Wetang’ula would take up the position in their pre-election agreement.
“I have the singular honor and privilege on behalf of Kenya Kwanza to announce that we have unanimously agreed that the Speaker nominee for the National Assembly for the Kenya Kwanza coalition shall be Moses Masika Wetangula, Papa wa Roma,” said Mudavadi.
Kenya Kwanza leaders are looking to implement their power-sharing deals if Ruto is sworn in as the country’s fifth president following his victory in the August 9th presidential election.
Mudavadi was promised the position of Prime Cabinet Secretary if the Kenya Kwanza managed to clinch the presidency.
Last week, the Amani National Congress (ANC) nominated Mudavadi as the Prime Cabinet Secretary under Kenya Kwanza government.
In a coalition agreement between UDA, Ford Kenya and ANC which was signed on April 5TH and presented to the Registrar of Political Parties, UDA was to produce the presidential ticket for the Kenya Kwanza Alliance (KKA) while ANC would nominate the candidate to be appointed as Prime Cabinet Secretary.
The position of the Prime Cabinet Secretary will be created within 14 days if President-elect Ruto is sworn in while Ford Kenya will nominate the candidate who will be the Speaker of the National Assembly.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary will be tasked with the responsibility of assisting the president and deputy president in coordinating and supervising ministries and State departments.
Both ANC and Ford-Kenya will also get 30 percent of the government, including Cabinet slots, Principal Secretaries, High Commissioners and other State jobs, says the document.
