Raila to Formally Dump His Safaricom Line for Airtel

John Wanjohi Nov 06, 2017

National Super Alliance (NASA) Chief Executive Officer Norman Magaya has announced that opposition leader Raila Odinga will migrate from Safaricom to Airtel at 4pm on Monday.

In a statement on his Twitter handle on Monday, Magaya said the former Prime Minister will visit Airtel Store on Koinange Street in Nairobi at 4 pm on Monday, where he will formally switch his line to the second biggest telecommunication firm in the country.

"The Rt Hon Raila Odinga will be migrating from Safaricom to Airtel today at 4:00pm at the Airtel Store on Koinange Street, Nairobi," Magaya said in a Tweet.

On Friday, Nasa asked supporters to boycott Safaricom, Bidco and Brookside products as part of the coalition plan to resist corporates they accuse of funding the oppressive Jubilee administration.

Nasa linked Safaricom to August 8th election rigging scheme, although the organization dismissed the claims as false.

On Monday, Safaricom dealers Association warned that the boycott called by Nasa could lead to loss of more than one million jobs and urged the opposition to reconsider the push.

“This call is likely to affect all business. Since and during the campaign period we have even at the individual dealer level, experienced a decline. We can almost with certainty say that the politics as they go they are effecting the common mwanachi including us,” Safaricom dealers chair Esther Muchemi said at a press briefing on Monday.
