Kalonzo: Raila Knew I Wasn’t Going to Take Oath as 'People's Deputy President'
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka says he was never going to take oath during January 30th mock swearing-in of opposition National Super Alliance (Nasa) leaders led by Raila Odinga.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday night, Kalonzo said he opposed the move right from the time it was proposed by a section of Nasa leaders.
Musyoka further revealed that Odinga was aware that he was not going to be part of the mock swearing-in and that he would take oath as 'people's president' without him.
"Raila and I knew that he was going to take that oath alone, between Raila and myself, he knew I was not going to take that oath," claimed Kalonzo, adding that he let the interests of the country reign.
"We were going to be regarded as pariahs by the international community, it is terrible when I reflect about it. I have always stood for honest politics . I am guided by what is reasonable and that which is in the best interest of the nation," said Kalonzo.
Kalonzo announced he will be running for presidency in 2022 and is ready to face any candidate including Deputy President William Ruto who is considered the frontrunner.
“I can’t be a professional running mate, the time to give it a real shot is now," said Musyoka.
