Blow To Peter Kenneth as Campaign Team Abandons Him For Mike Sonko

John Wanjohi Jun 16, 2017

Nairobi County governor candidate Peter Kenneth has suffered a major blow after a section of his campaign team ditched him in favor of his arc-rival, Nairobi senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko.

The youth campaign team led by Peter Kenneth's Youth and Operations co-coordinator Jackson Aluda, popularly known as Sammy Boy, wrote to the former Gatanga MP notifying him that they are no longer members of his team.

In the letter, the youths stated the reason for their quitting Kenneth’s camp as quit his wanting to secure the Jubilee Party agenda in Nairobi. "I hereby wish to tender my resignation as the Youth and Operations co-coordinator at Peter Kenneth Secretariat," the letter states.

"My decision results from the fact that a few weeks to Jubilee party primaries all contenders for the race to oust the incumbent had a gentleman’s agreement to support whoever wins the ticket. This was for the sake of party unity." He added.

Kenneth lost to Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko in the race for Jubilee Party ticket for Nairobi County, results that Kenneth contested, claiming that he was massively rigged in the shambolic elections.

Kenneth ditched the President Uhuru’s party and opted to contest for the seat as an independent candidate and will face Mike Sonko, Orange Democratic Movement’s Evans Kidero and former Raila Odinga Adviser Miguna Miguna (Independent) in the August 8 elections.
